The Sims 2 is lacking in fun things to do for Halloween. The Sims 3 had Spooky Day and you can have Halloween styled holiday on the Sims 4.. I think this added to my need for there to be something like that on the Sims 2.
I searched everywhere for a Trick-or-Treat mod but couldn’t find one so I had to make my own.
IMPROVEMENTS!
This is a modified version of the Jogging mod by Smonaff. It no longer replaces 'Jogging' and won't conflict with Smonaff's jogging mod.
Here is how it works, you click on a sim and the option ‘Trick or Treat’ will be there along with all the other menu options. When you click ‘Trick or Treat’ you’ll have 4 options – ‘Trick or Treat – at next door neighbor’s house’/ ‘Trick or Treat – at neighbor’s houses’/ ‘Trick or Treat – around town’/ ‘Trick or Treat – around town with a stop at the haunted mansion’. All this actually does is change the length of time your sim is away. Going trick or treating at the next door neighbor’s is the shortest at 1 sim hour and going ‘around town with a stop at the haunted mansion’ is the longest, lasting 4 sim hours.
Your sim will then walk to the mailbox and then proceed to leave the lot. The reason they walk to the mailbox first is because like I say, this was based on the jogging interaction and they normally do a warm up near the mailbox before leaving the lot. I removed the warming up part but can’t seem to stop them walking to the mailbox before leaving. Once your sim has left, a pop up will appear to say that your sim has left to go trick-or-treating. A bucket of edible Halloween candy will then appear in your sim’s inventory before they come back. A memory of going trick or treating will also be generated.
Special thanks to Smonaff for creating the jogging mod and Fractured Moonlight for allowing me to use their candy bucket. Also thanks to Dilight who made the best 'Custom memories' tutorial and Omglo who is always so helpful.
IMPORTANT
It must be said that I’m new to modding and although this works perfectly well in my game and I’ve had no issues, I’m not sure the same can be said for everyone.
There are two versions -
Version 1 has it so that only sims with an active level above the midway point will get candy and a memory of going trick of treating. The file name is 'trick or treat.rar'
Version 2 is the better one in my opinion as sims can go trick or treating, get candy and a memory of going trick or treating regardless of personality and active level. The file name is 'Trick or treat without fitness,activity.rar'
Only download one version! if you have version 1 but would prefer version 2, then you'll have to remove version 1 first.
Also remember to download the candy bucket by Fractured Moonlight.
Only download if you have freetime or preferably the ultimate collection as I have only tested it in an ultimate collection game.
If you want to delete this mod then you can but leave the file that contains the memory, or you may want to look up how to remove custom memories as you have to make sure you remove all instances of a memory before removing it.
